Description

Rivers Studio and Gallery, the newest fine art gallery located in Harpers Ferry WV, has its grand opening on Saturday, April 29th at 6pm. The Exhibit entitled “Breaking the surface will run from April 29th –June 11th.

The opening exhibit will highlight the works of four contemporary three dimensional artists including Anne Rule-Thompson who finds hidden beauty in sculpted landscapes and figurative ceramic sculptures using clay, metal, and glass; Ceramic artist Lisa Kovatch whose bold colored pottery depicts playful images of nature routed in historical tradition with a modern appeal; jewelry artist and metal smith Rose Mendez who uses texture and color to create lyrical pieces with natural materials and up scaled metals; and Joy Bridy whose warm wood fired pottery and sculptural works reflect her inspiration for the organic sensibilities of our local rivers and woodlands.

The exhibit also includes furniture restoration by John Mark Powers who has repaired pieces for local antique owners as well as embassies, antique dealers in Washington D.C., and the National Gallery of Art.

Anne Rule-Thompson, Lisa Kovatch, Rose Mendez, Joy Bridy, and John Mark Power will be available to discuss their work.
