Shepherdstown Sweet Shop
Stay Play Eat Shop!; Eat; Jefferson County Eat;
Founded in 1982 by Howard Butcher, the Sweet Shop Bakery is housed in a 200-year-old building in the center of historic Shepherdstown, the oldest town in West Virginia. Originally named Mecklenberg, the town was established in 1762 by Thomas Shepherd, a miller, who laid out the town on the banks of the Potomac River and settled it with a variety of businesses and artisans, creating a thriving community that continues today. We specialize in Old World style whole grain breads, pastries, all-occasion cakes and our nationally famous Holiday Stollen.
Our breads and desserts are served in restaurants throughout the quad-state area (West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania). Our retail area offers gourmet coffees, donuts, soups and sandwiches made with our wholesome breads, plus a variety of cakes, cookies, tarts, cheesecakes and fine pastries.
Join us for breakfast, lunch or an anytime snack – we’re open daily. Sit down with a steaming cappuccino and a fresh croissant or muffin, or choose from an array of contemporary sandwiches on our handcrafted breads, creative wraps, soups and sweet or savory pastries. We offer the most diverse selection of freshly prepared items in the area
