CHARLES TOWN - As the nation's economy sputters along, Jefferson County looks to boost tourism locally.

With funds allocated from the Jefferson County Commission, The Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced it will take $20,000 of the funding and set it aside for a grant program designed to assist tourism programs with local businesses and promote the county.

First Zion Baptist Church Restoration Project

The Foundation plans to purchase and preserve the Zion Baptist Church on W. Ridge Street in Harpers Ferry for future use as cultural center for Harpers Ferry and Bolivar. The site will also serve a significant role in interpreting history.
